Got my block back

I got my block back from the machinist.  My clearance issues were all due to the ceramic coating on the main bearings.  We replaced the main and connecting rod bearings with uncoated versions and the clearance issues went away.  I think that the ceramic would be an option if your crank journals were worn enough that the coating could fill in the gap but I'm using a fresh crank so no dice.  Also, in case you're wondering, I don't think anyone makes undersized bearings.

The machinist also said that some of my connecting rods were backwards.  I didn't know that a connecting rod could be backwards.  Live and learn.  In any event, I have the crank and pistons back in and properly torqued now with no binding.  YAY!  I also installed my main cap girdle, windage tray, oil pump, oil pump pickup and oil pump drive shaft.  Everything seems to be going together nicely.  Finally, I installed the camshaft and camshaft thrust plate and the timing set.  Before the weekend is out I hope to check the camshaft timing and then determine the proper length pushrods for this engine.  I'd also like to install the overhead storage that I mentioned in the last post.
